Linda gave me permission to share part of her latest email; read and enjoy:
So, yesterday I stopped at McDonald's in Adel and there was this couple in there. Picture it. I am not making this up. She was about 4-1/2 feet tall, 80 pounds at best. Probably closer to 70. She had her hair in that same hairdo the tattooed lady had the other day... as if she had slept in little curlers and hadn't brushed the curls out yet. She had her four front teeth, but I think that is all. There were definitely gaps on the sides. He was wearing size 34 jeans around his butt, but if he had bought them to fit his waist, he would have had to buy size 48, at least. You know the look. His shirt said "Save water, drink beer." Well, she was in the middle of a rant when I walked in, and it was so loud and disagreeably spoken that I kind of checked her out to make sure she wasn't packing, 'cause if she was, I was ready to vamoose. She had asked the counter girl if "the steak on the biscuits was tough" and the girl had apparently replied that "you'll just have to eat it to find out" and that didn't set will with our princess; she thought that was an entirely too sarcastic and unnecessary remark when it "is obvious that I don't have my chewin' teeth." She went on and on and on about taking her business elsewhere, there were other fine eating establishments in Adel she could start frequenting, and just when I thought she was cooling down, she looked right at me and said "Can you believe the rednecks they hire in places like this?"

Awwww...
That was the most common reaction as Ashley opened gifts at the baby shower! She is blessed with a loyal circle of friends and I am so appreciative of the love they shared with her as they hosted today's party. It was a special treat to spend time with the wonderful women in her family, too. Ellie doesn't know it yet, but there are a lot of people who love her. In the circle of life category, it was a pleasure for me to return to the place where my bridesmaid's luncheon was held, the Swan Coach House.Thursday, July 17, 2008

Wedding Weekend - Sunday
As evidenced by the photos of the past few days, much of our family has been in Virginia to celebrate the marriage of Sarah and Tim. Sue and George hosted a beautiful wedding and we enjoyed getting to know Tim's family and friends. Thanks for a great time, y'all. Although we are from different parts of the country and a variety of accents were heard, we managed to communicate quite nicely, thank you very much. We have learned, though, that the Bowers need to add some more players to our team and train for the marathon rather than the sprint if we hope to compete with the Sundermans!
